Classic Bikes

Older road bikes, even racing bikes, have clearance for wider tires that make riding on less than perfect pavement, even dirt roads, more enjoyable.

Older frame designs are more comfortable and efficient.

A. Relaxed seat tube
• Takes the weight off hands.
• More power in a seated position.

B. Longer chainstays
• Better chainline
• More clearance for tires and fender
• Shorter top tube without short wheel base
• Shorter front center.

So if you have an older classic or can find one, why not bring it back with custom wheels, new freewheel and a decent chain.
Remember that modern frame designs are appropriate for only about 2% of the cycling community.
Remember what we're talking about here:
• Quality.
• Simplification.

There are a lot of very high quality older frames and bikes for very little money. Restoring an older frame can be an adventure, a lot of fun. You can bring them back to original condition or modernize with new parts.

Classic Wheel Sales

Your classic bike has a frame that is probably better than 90% of the bikes currently available anywhere. Quality. Remember? The problem with old bikes is not that they are "old", it's that the wheels are shot. Are your wheels
1. Worn out? Are the spokes and rims damaged? Fatigued?
2. Sew ups? and you want the ease and economics of clinchers?
3. Geared inappropriately?
4. Lacking strength for current riding style?
5. Out of sync with the frame spacing? and you can't find new ones to fit?

Joe Young Wheels provides the solutions to your problems:
• Custom designed wheels for your frame and riding style.
• Components that are the highest quality and durability.
• Continuity - if preferred, wheels can be built using components from the same time period as your frame.
• An experienced wheelbuilder (40 years) who has designed for champions, and is familiar with all components since l966 and earlier.
